Hints
When your trying to salvage a mech go for the legs.I know it sounds hard but it USALLY works don't go ballistic when it dosent work but keep in mind that all the important machenery is in the head and center torso. [Submitted by: bill baily]
If you are stuck on a mission where there is a tough mech to beat, i.e Atlas, unless if you want to salvage it, go for the arms because that's where most of the weapons are.
